Zachary Edward Martin, an offensive guard with the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League, was born on November 20, 1990. In the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft, the Cowboys selected him as the 16th overall pick out of Notre Dame, where he played college football. He was chosen for seven All-Pro teams and seven Pro Bowls. Martin is regarded as one of the NFL’s top guards.
According to their then-principal, Dr. Martin Erlenbaugh, Zack and his brother Nick attended Saint Matthew Catholic School in Indianapolis, Indiana, for their whole elementary education from kindergarten through eighth grade. The Martins are CYO (Catholic Youth Organization) athletes from the Indianapolis Archdiocese.
Zack and Nick were both freshmen at Bishop Chatard High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. Zack was named first-team all-state as a senior and junior and had 114 pancake blocks in one season.
He guided his high school squad to a 14-1 record and their second straight Class 3A state championship in 2007. As a sophomore, he helped Indiana Class 3A win the state championship with a 12-3 record.
He started on both the offensive and defensive lines as a sophomore in 2006, recording 73 tackles, including five for loss.
