Actor and author Quinn K. Redeker passed unexpectedly this month, according to Christopher Hartman, who represented him.
The Young and the Restless, “Days of Our Lives,” and “The Deer Hunter,” the latter of which garnered him an Academy Award nomination for best original screenplay, are among the shows that have featured his work.
As per Hartman’s email to CNN, the singer passed away on December 20 from natural causes. He was 86. Arianne Raser, Redeker’s daughter, reportedly gave Hartman the assurance late on Monday.

From 1958 to 1959, Redeker was wed to actress Suzanne Elizabeth Long; from 1963 to 1980, he was wed to actress Patricia Ann Graves. The later couple had four kids collectively.

Screenwriter Redeker received an Oscar nod for his work on the 1978 classic “The Deer Hunter,” which starred Robert De Niro, Christopher Walken, and Meryl Streep. The movie went on to win five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, for which Redeker shared story credit.
His other movies include The Candidate (1972), The Electric Horseman (1979), and Ordinary People (1980), which was nominated for four Academy Awards (including Best Picture and Best Director for Robert Redford).
